the lowdown on prp therapy

Imagine indulging in a luxurious, non-surgical treatment that uses your own blood to promote a glowing, youthful complexion. With PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy, you can say goodbye to dull, tired skin and hello to a fresh, radiant glow!

This cutting-edge treatment involves a simple blood draw followed by the process of concentrating your body's own growth factors and platelets aka liquid gold. PRP Rejuvenation injections are the ultimate way to harness the power of brightening, healing, and strengthening.

This exciting treatment involves injecting PRP throughout the face to enhance skin health and radiance, or targeting specific areas like the under eyes to banish tired eyes and lighten dark circles.

Thanks to its amazing healing and strengthening properties, PRP can also be used to strengthen thinning, damaged hair and combined with microneedling to tighten and lift the skin.

are you a candidate for prp?

Are you looking for a versatile treatment that can help you tackle a variety of skin and hair concerns? Look no further than PRP!

This amazing treatment is perfect for anyone looking for a natural solution to level up their under-eye game or give their skin and hair journey a major boost.

But that's not all – PRP also makes the perfect sidekick to all your in-clinic treatments. It's like the cherry on top of your skincare sundae or the secret sauce that takes your hair game to the next level.

Whether you're looking for a standalone treatment or want to supercharge your existing routine, PRP is an excellent add-on that can further boost your results.

what to expect during a prp treatment at zest

Before any in-clinic treatment, our treatment providers complete a 360-degree consultation. Before your first treatment, we start by taking your medical photos.

The first step is a quick and easy blood draw from your arm – no biggie, it's just like a routine blood test! Your blood will then be placed in a centrifuge machine that spins it rapidly, separating the PRP from the rest of the blood components.

While the PRP solution is being prepared, a process which typically takes 10-15 minutes, you have the opportunity to sit back and relax. If your treatment plan includes microneedling, this is usually the time when your face will be numbed in preparation for the procedure.

Once the PRP solution is ready, the medical professional will use a fine needle to inject it into targeted areas of your skin or scalp, or even combine it with microneedling for an extra boost of beauty.

You may feel a slight pinching sensation during the injection, but most people find the process relatively painless. After the injection, you may experience mild swelling, redness, or bruising in the treatment area.

These side effects typically subside within a few days, and most people are able to resume their normal activities immediately after the treatment.

how long does a prp treatment take?

Completing a PRP (platelet-rich plasma) treatment is a smooth process! The blood drawing and centrifuge transformation generally require around 10-15 minutes. The duration of the actual treatment can vary, depending on the targeted area and whether you choose to use a numbing cream.

If you decide on using numbing cream, expect the treatment to last between 30-45 minutes as the medical professional performs their treatment. The procedure may be slightly shorter without numbing, but you should prepare for a bit more sensation during the injections.

pre and post care for prp treatment

Taking good care of your skin and scalp before and after PRP treatment can help maximize your results and minimize potential side effects. If you are on a hair journey, ensure your hair is cleansed and washed before your treatment.

Avoid certain medications and supplements such as blood thinners and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and avoid consuming alcohol for at least 24 hours, because these can increase the risk of bleeding or bruising after the treatment.
Avoid strenuous exercise and activities that may cause excessive sweating for at least 24 hours following your treatment.

combination treatments

Get ready for a powerful duo - PRP and microneedling! On its own, microneedling is already a skincare superhero, working wonders to enhance your skin health. But partner it with PRP, and you're in for an epic skin transformation!

While microneedling diligently refines your skin's texture and laxity, PRP steps in with a grand performance, saturating your skin with growth factors. These are the secret sauce in your skin's natural wound response, the magic that tightens and rejuvenates your complexion.

It's like treating your skin to a nurturing embrace and a vitality boost, all geared towards unveiling its ultimate, glowing self!

With a PRP treatment, you are usually first administered anesthetic to reduce any pain, making the injections only slightly uncomfortable. Since the treatment uses your own blood and plasma, the risks are minimal, as well.
After your Platelet-Rich Plasma treatment, you will need to rest your skin for the first 24 hours. Afterwards, you can return to your normal activities, with minimal side effects of redness, skin tightness, and mild bruising that will resolve itself quickly.
With all PRP therapy treatments, it is important to incorporate these treatments as part of your skin care regime. It is important to avoid UV exposure and it is highly recommended to wear sun-protective clothing and wear and reapply an SPF of at least 30.

With PRP treatments, you can expect to see glowing, beautiful results within 2-3 weeks following your treatment.

It is important for you to disclose and share your complete medical history with your service provider which includes supplements, prescribed medication and lifestyle to ensure you are a candidate for Platelet-Rich Plasma therapy. PRP is safe for most skin types, but patients who are breastfeeding, pregnant, have autoimmune disorders, improper wound healing, some skin conditions, recent sun exposure (in the last month), and are on certain medications cannot undergo this treatment.
